Prof. Ranganath Bharadwaj, Founder of Karnataka Haridasa Scientific Research Centre is a distinguished Academician. He has been continuously in the teaching profession for over 50 years. He is the initiator of the ‘Structural Method’ – an alternative methodology forged in response to the deepening methodological crisis in education due to it’s use of the Newtonian approach of differential Calculus. One of the top ranking economists/ econometricians/ methodologists in the country, Prof. R. Bharadwaj has many notable contributions to his credit. He has authored many books including ‘Managing Limits to Growth’ and papers which have won acclaim both at a national as well as at the International level.
Prof. R. Bharadwaj who retired as the the Director of the Economics Department from the Bombay University, is the current President of the Input-Output research Association of India and the former President of The Indian Econometric Society. He had held and is holding, high public positions. He was an expert Consultant at ECAPE, UNDP, UNAPDC, UNEP, The World Bank, The Reserve Bank of India, IDRC of Canada and many United Nations bodies. He has been the All India Co-ordinator for Curriculum Development in Economics at the invitation of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Prof. Bharadwaj’s research interests are not confined to Economics alone. He has been stressing the importance of education in Human Resource Development. He has been hailed as the doyen of modern Indian experimental theatre and has successfully staged performances in villages, metro cities of India and Singapore, Canada and other overseas nations. He has been recognised in the theatre world as an efficient stage designer. Critics have lauded the novelty of his method and the meticulous stage designing done to perfection.
Prof. Bharadwaj’s philosophical contributions have been widely appreciated. His works on Haridasas, especially ‘The Study of the Methodological Contributions of Haridasarus of Karnataka’ published during the world Kannada Literary Conference 1983 by the Govt. of Karnataka Is well known in philosophical circles. This work has won him the title ‘Scientist Philosopher’. He has also been conferred with the Dhruva Award – 2002 for his contributions to Indian philosophical thought, and has also been conferred the title of 'Pravachana Chakravarti'. Professor Bharadwaj, also an Urdu scholar, has always taken a scientifically and ethically founded independent attitude towards societal problems in his writings, talks and plays.
Dr. Welling has been in the education field at College & University level for the past 27 years. He has presented research papers in many conferences. He has co-authored several books on Mathematics, Statistics & Computers. He has done his M.Sc. & M.Phil. in Statistics and Ph.D. under Prof. Ranganath Bharadwaj in Economics from the University of Mumbai.
Dr. Welling started his career in Bhavan’s College, Andheri & was Head, dept. of Statistics in Bhavan’s College. He was Principal of Shri Rajasthani Seva Sangh College of Arts & Commerce, Andheri (East), K.J. Somaiya College of Science & Commerce, Vidyavihar, Mithibai College of Arts, Science and Commerce and Narsee Monjee College of Commerce & Economics, Vile Parle (West), Mumbai 400 056.
He was Director, Board of College & University Development, University of Mumbai & also I/C Registrar, University of Mumbai. He had represented teachers & principals in the Senate of University of Mumbai.
Dr. Welling has been recognized guide for M.Phil. and Ph.D. for Management for S.N.D.T. University and Ph.D. guide for Economics for Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU). He was awarded the prestigious State level ‘Best Teacher Award (2002-2003) by the Government of Maharashtra. He has been a recipient of several other awards for his contribution in research and education.
